ICTAS is pleased to announce a new process for requesting access to ICTAS facilities! Beginning October 9, 2017, faculty members and/or supervisors will initiate access requests for the students, staff and other users in their labs. This will be done via the university’s Google Apps account and is more fully described below.
NOTE: ONLY Faculty Members (or designated lab managers) Are Allowed to Submit Access Requests.
While this change does shift initiation of the process to faculty, this new process gives faculty more control over who has access to their labs and eliminates the multiple email notifications common to the old system. The advantages to this system include the following:
- Expedites the process to allow student access to labs (three working days)
- Eliminates miscommunication related to the process (is essentially one step)
- Eliminates multiple email notifications related to other faculty members’ students
- Provides a means of giving access for a designated time period vs. open-ended access
- Gives ICTAS Facilities all the needed information in one simple step
- Satisfies FERPA requirements

Instructions for PI/Supervisor Submitting Building Access Request for Students
Sign into your Google Apps Account
Below is what you should see after signing into Google Apps:
After signing into Google Apps account, you are now ready to submit your student’s building access request. Click the following link to start the building access request.
Fill Out the Form
And that’s it! Your request will automatically be sent to the ICTAS Facilities staff for processing. An automatic email will be generated for the access request you submitted.
Please let us know of any problems you encounter. This system will be announced to all occupants (along with a separate set of instructions for requesters) once we have notified all approvers. Your students/employees should be granted access within three business days. Because the previous Request for Access was phased out by its provider, we will no longer be able to accept requests from the old building requests.
